Stephen will present and display some of his best photographs and have his bird photography equipment on site for discussion. So, bring your gear! DSLR’s and telephoto lenses are encouraged in this workshop for some hands-on assistance. A follow up field trip to Colusa National Wildlife Refuge will be offered on Saturday afternoon, to further sharpen your skills. (Fieldtrip pre- registration is required. Space is limited.)
Presenter Stephen Fischer’s photographic experience spans 35 years with beginnings in black and white film—converting to digital in 2006. He saw much potential in digital, and with a background in electrical engineering, and a love of nature it’s no surprise Stephen enjoyed mastering the technical aspects of digital photography; and the art of capturing and portraying nature’s beauty, so appealing to the eye, but difficult to express in a photograph. Stephen’s photography has taken him through most of Central and Northern California from the Pacific coast to the Sierras, White Mountains, and southwest desert regions, and beyond to Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Florida and Alaska. He’s photographed birds in the Everglades, and Bosque Del Apache wildlife refuge, and Bald Eagles along the Chilkat River in Haines, Alaska. However, a native of Sacramento, one of his favorite pastimes is photographing the American River Parkway and other regional wildlife areas. Stephen exhibits his work at the Viewpoint Photographic Gallery in Sacramento, and his images have been used in many non-‐profit venues including California State Parks calendar. He’s currently writing a book Photographing California.
