Welcome!

This Year, the Birds Are Our Focus

This year, the California Swan Festival is shifting its wingspan. While last year we centered on the land, this year we are celebrating the incredible birds that call our region home. We are going all-in on guided tours—bringing you closer than ever to the majestic Tundra Swans and the diverse avian life of the Pacific Flyway.

Exciting News: Kick-Off Party at Montna Farms

We are thrilled to announce that Montna Farms will be hosting this year’s kick-off party! Located in the heart of birding territory and surrounded by the wintering grounds of the Swans, there is no better place to begin our celebration. Join us in the field where the magic happens.

A Mobile Festival Experience

For this year's festival, there will be no central indoor hub and no stationary presenters. Instead, our staff and board will be out in the field at every tour—supporting our expert guides, connecting with conservation partners, and engaging directly with our community of birders.

We may bring a central hub back in future years, but for now, we’re excited to meet you where the birds are!

Why Your Support Matters

The California Swan Festival is more than a celebration of nature—it’s a vital fundraiser that supports the mission and ongoing work of the Sutter Buttes Regional Land Trust. Proceeds from the event help fund our core programs, including:

  • Land Conservation – Protecting critical open space, farmland, and the wildlife habitat essential for the birds we love.

  • Stewardship – Ensuring long-term care and management of the lands and migratory corridors we’ve protected.

  • Community Outreach & Education – Offering inclusive, place-based experiences that connect people to the natural world.

  • Organizational Operations – Sustaining the dedicated staff, tools, and infrastructure we need to do this work effectively.

By attending, donating, or sponsoring the event, you are directly investing in the future of our local landscapes and the winged wonders that depend on them.
